Percy will go down in history as one of Victoria's finest all-round sportsmen. The only sportsman to play over 200 games at top level cricket and football. He also was selected to represent Victoria in both sports.

Football

  • Played with Melbourne from 1931 to 1944.
  • Played in the great Melbourne premiership sides of 1939, 1940, 1941.
  • Captained Victorian State team.
  • Selected in State sides 1932-34, 35, 37,38.
  • Captain and Coach of Melbourne 1942 - 44.
  • Played 213 games kicked 323 goals.
  • One of the best rovers of his era.

 

Cricket

  • Played with Melbourne Cricket Club 1932-46
  • Captained Melbourne C.C. 1940.
  • Runs compiled 7072.
  • In 1942, in 4 games, he made 411 runs without being dismissed.
  • Played for Victoria in 18 matches and 27 Innings with 4 not outs.
  • His highest score was 226 not out.
  • He compiled 1186 runs at an average of 51.5.

Note: He was also Chief Sporting Editor of the Age from 1946 until 1971.
